"Regarded as one of the best managers in the English game"
Following his retirement from professional football in 2001, Gareth Southgate transitioned into the role of manager, returning to Middlesbrough, a club he had previously played for. His leadership saw the team reach the League Cup final in 2004, although they were ultimately defeated by Bolton Wanderers. Undeterred, Southgate’s managerial prowess shone through, earning him the prestigious title of Premier League Manager of the Month in 2006. In 2016, he assumed the role of manager for the English national team, succeeding Sam Allardyce. Southgate’s tenure has been marked by remarkable achievements, including guiding the team to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, their most successful performance in the tournament since 1990. Additionally, under his guidance, the team secured qualification for the 2020 European Championships and currently holds the impressive rank of the fourth-best team in the world according to FIFA.
Gareth draws on the lessons learned on the pitch to show audiences the importance of teamwork in business and how to achieve our own personal goals.
