Michael is, firstly, an engineer, who has helped build AI to contribute to quantum computing, astrostatistics and battery modelling. He is also at the forefront of work that analyses the economic and social impacts of AI, he has advised ministers in Germany and Japan on AI’s impacts, with his methodology also being used by Obama’s council of economic advisors and Teresa May’s Taylor Report. As a professor at Oxford, Osborne leads research initiatives and supervises students in their pursuit of advanced studies in machine learning. He is a key member of the Machine Learning Research Group at Oxford.
