Francis Fukuyama, one of the world’s most influential social and political philosophers, is Olivier Nomellini Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute (FSI) for International Studies as well as Mosbacher Director of the FSI’s Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law at Stanford University.

Having dedicated his career to exploring a range of issues related to international politics, Francis has also enjoyed time working with the US Department of State and shared his expertise as a world-class author. After completing his studies of a BA in Classics from Cornell University and a PhD in Political Science from Harvard University, he began working for the RAND Corporation global policy think tank. As a member of the Political Science Department, Francis began to build his astute knowledge of political science, and later went on to become Policy Planning Staff for the US Department of State. He then joined the education sector, becoming the Omer L. and Nancy Hirst Professor of Public Policy at the George Mason University School of Public Policy.
