She is author of the Guardian bestseller ‘Spirals in Time’, New Scientist book of the year Eye of the Shoal, and the children’s book ‘The Great Barrier Reef‘. She writes for National Geographic Magazine, the Guardian, and New Scientist, among others.

Helen has spoken about the mysteries of the deep sea with Robin Ince and Brian Cox on BBC Radio 4’s The Infinite Monkey Cage and donated an imaginary tank of seahorses to The Museum of Curiosity. Among her BBC radio documentaries, she’s explored the enduring dreams of living underwater and of conquering the waves. She completed her undergraduate at St John’s College, Cambridge and her Master’s at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Helen went on to complete her PhD at St John’s. he teaches at Cambridge University and is science advisor for the marine conservation charity Sea Changers.
