Former Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland
John Bruton is a former Irish Prime Minister (Taoiseach), who helped transform the Irish economy into the "Celtic Tiger," one of the fastest growing economies in the world. He was also deeply involved in the Northern Irish Peace Process leading to the 1998 Good Friday Agreement.
"Global challenges need cooperation."
As a Board Member of several organisations including The Centre for European Policy Studies, Irish Institute for International and European Affairs, John Bruton has acquired a good knowledge on public corporations, particularly of diversified manufacturing and reinsurance. He is Chairman of the Public Interest Oversight Body of Deloitte in Ireland and Advisor to Cabinet DN (a Brussels based public affairs consultancy working with EU institutions), and, in that capacity, he is Chairman of the European Sports Forum. This enables him to maintain his knowledge of EU policy making processes.
A dynamic visionary, John Bruton has held the fate of European countries in his hands. From his success as the Prime Minister of Ireland who turned around the country’s economy, to his diplomatic relationship with the U.S. as the European Union Ambassador to the United States, John Bruton impresses with his insight and experience in the trenches of global politics and economic policy. He speaks confidently on the entire range of international political and economic issues, particularly relating to trade, finance, energy, and climate change both sides of the Atlantic.
