Actor, Comedian and Writer
Miles Jupp is an actor, comedian and writer who rose to fame in 2000 after kick-starting his stand-up comedy career in Scotland. He is best known for being an unapologetically posh satirist with wit.
"A very British tour-de-force of comedy" The Telegraph
Miles Jupp was Perrier nominated as Best Newcomer in 2003 for his debut solo show, Gentlemen Prefer Brogues. He started performing stand-up comedy in 2000 when he won both So You Think You’re Funny and Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. Miles became a regular performer on BBC Scotland’s Live Floor Show. He has contributed to many BBC Radio 4 shows such as The Vote Now Show and Loose Ends. As well as creating Miles Jupp’s Real World, he presented It’s Not What You Know and can now be regularly heard on Radio 4 as host of The News Quiz. Miles also wrote and starred in In and Out of the Kitchen on Radio 4, of which there have been four series so far and became a television show on BBC4.
Acutely aware of his posh appearance and how others perceive him (and the problems that creates), he views the world with a middle-class detachment, but cut through with the irony that he’s all too aware that his life isn’t really any easier than anyone else’s.
