Oliver Kamm is a leading commentator on global economics and the financial crisis, foreign affairs and international politics. Having combined for several years his careers as a banker and writer, he joined The Times full-time in 2008 as a leader writer and columnist.

Oliver Kamm was educated at New College, Oxford and Birkbeck College, London University. He began his career at the Bank of England, where he was an analyst in the International Division, covering successively the international capital markets and the economies and financial systems of North America. In the 1990s he worked as European Equity Strategist at HSBC Securities, and then as Head of Strategic Research at Commerzbank Securities. He was a founder of WMG Advisors LLP, an asset management and advisory firm, in 2004. He also writes the weekly Pedant column on language. In the UK general election of 1997 and the Parliament of 1997-2001 he served in a voluntary capacity as policy adviser to Martin Bell, the first elected Independent MP for half a century. His writings have been published in many leading journals including The New York Times, The Guardian, Prospect and The New Republic.
Having written and broadcasted on the UK and global economic prospects after the banking crisis, Oliver Kamm offers audiences clear and well researched advice. He is a regular commentator on broadcast programmes including Newsnight, Today, The Daily Politics, Nightwaves, Radio 5 Live, You and Yours and Sky News.
