He now pursues a wide range of business and charitable activities and is a well-known writer of historical biographies and a columnist of The Times. In November 2020 Lord Hague became Chair of the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales. Educated in Oxford and at INSEAD, he started his career in politics when he was elected the Member of Parliament for Richmond in 1989 before moving on to work for the former Chancellor in 1990. A man of great self-belief and utter conviction, William Hague first spoke at the Tory Blackpool conference when he was just 16 years old, becoming leader of the world’s oldest political party twenty years later.
